” When you’re dead you’re dead, but you’re not so quite dead if you contributed something. “ - John Dunsworth
All I hope for is that my art will contribute, to feelings or emotions- something raw and undefined that moves you in ways you have been pushed before. To create an unconscious decision that evoke curiosity is how I want my art to be personified. The unexampled is something that has always driven me, the what- if’s and “how do you do that?” questions are what I lived for and have become the bases for my works. Crossroads is a tale dating back to 1870 of two notorious killers that have been out on the lam for years but their time comes to and end when they turn on each other and ultimately kill each other in the process. I have exemplified how mass media is desensitizing murder. You cannot go a week without hearing or seeing murderous actives through the media. The media has made murder a hot ticket item that they love to sell because it creates so many unexampled questions. No one truly understands what it takes to murder someone until they’ve done it but the media is unminding that thought by constantly showing it. I understand that I am
doing the same thing but my efforts aren’t being hidden. I want the viewer to step back and question what they are receiving through mass media and filter out the unnecessary. Murder is something that effects all. It is everlasting and the main focus for our media. It has a grasp on the world it effects how we view thing. The media exploits murder and must be tamed and overlooked so we can grow.
