SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University is proud to present the 58th biannual Senior Art Exhibition, Chroma. The University’s Downtown Campus Gallery and University Gallery will both be showcasing the work of graduating twenty nine art students.

The shows are part of the Senior Exhibition course taught by Professor Jinchul Kim. The goal of the class is to summarize the students’ art experiences at SU by having them lead the planning and execution of a professional art exhibit. At the shows, each student uses a portion of the University Gallery to display their work, which is based on their specific art track and encompasses an overarching theme of their choice. During the awards receptions, the artists present their portfolios, resumes and business cards.

This is the first year that the fine arts portion will be located at the Downtown Campus Gallery. The exhibition features a unique blend of fifteen fine artists and displays a variety of 2-D and 3-D mediums. Two students, Alec Aita and Marghi Barnes, will be displaying site specific installations. The show will be on display from April 30-May 12, with a reception from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 4.

The graphic design portion will be located within the University Gallery at 109 Fulton Hall. The exhibition features the work of fourteen graphic design students who go beyond the standard format to explore graphic design’s incorporation into various mediums or art.

This portion of the show will be judged by visiting graphic designer John Kerr, a former student and Web Developer/Designer and Graphic Artist at JKerr Designs. The show will be on display from May 7-May 19, with a reception on Friday, May 11 from 5-7 p.m.

Light refreshments will be provided at the receptions. Admission is free and open to the public.

“The kindness, leadership, dedication and professionalism displayed by Mr.Kim during my time at Salisbury University mirrors his incomparable ability as an artist. Completing the painting track with him as my mentor and friend was a privilege that has impacted my life forever. Mr. Kim opened my eyes to painting and guided me, along with many of my peers, to be able to achieve a career as a professional artist. While instructing our Senior Exhibition class, he taught us to plan, execute, install, and display a cohesive body of work that embodied everything we’ve worked for as a graduating class that we were all immensely proud of. The structure of the class allowed us to make every element of the exhibition exceed our expectations and then some. I am forever grateful to Mr. Kim for all of the knowledge I've received that will translate into my career and artwork. His ability to unlock a young artist’s potential makes Salisbury University truly blessed to have him.”
